Marcia Soanes, Artist
Marcia is a local artist who works in acrylics on canvas and specialises in Auckland streetscapes. Her inspiration comes from buildings which have survived the modernisation of the inner city. Her work portrays the “soul” and character of buildings, with the use of bold brush strokes and vibrant colours.
She has had three successful exhibitions, French Art Shop (twice) and Studio One (2019) as well as a featured artist in the NZ Art Magazine 2019. The concept behind her streetscapes is to capture the mood and era past and present. This is often achieved by combining the historic buildings with a modern car or people in the paintings.
Marcia is largely self- taught, however, has attended some art classes over the years at Whitecliffe College of Art, Browne Art school, and Studio one.
Marcia’s work is a moment in time in our changing city captured forever.
